Directions For Use: High-quality hay and/or pasture should make up at least half of your horse’s complete diet. Change to this feed from other equine products gradually over a 5- to 7-day period. Do not overfeed or offer this product on a free-choice basis. Divide the grain ration into two or more feedings per day. Do not feed more than 0.5% of the horse’s body weight in grain at any one time. Maintain a regular feeding schedule. Provide fresh, clean water, plain salt and adequate forage at all times. Do not allow hot, exercised horses free-choice access to water until they have cooled down.
Young Growing Horses: Feed Leading Edge to weanlings and yearlings to achieve the desired growth rate and body condition. This amount will vary depending on the amount and quality of available forage, activity level, and metabolism of the individual horse. As a starting guideline, feed weanlings and yearlings 5–8 lbs of Leading Edge per day along with free-choice access to good-quality hay and/or pasture, salt, and water. Do not allow weanlings or yearlings to become overconditioned or fat. If weanlings or yearlings become overconditioned, gradually reduce the amount of Leading Edge fed per day until the desired body condition is achieved.
Lactacting Mares and Breeding Stallions: Feed Leading Edge to lactating mares and breeding stallions along with good-quality forage at a rate necessary to maintain proper body condition. A general guideline is to feed 8–12 lbs of Leading Edge per day along with free-choice access to good-quality hay and/or pasture, salt, and water.
Performance Horses: Feed Leading Edge at a rate that is consistent with the horse’s body condition, metabolism, activity level and type. Horses competing in power events, such as cutting, eventing, jumping, racing, etc., should be fed close to equal amounts of Leading Edge and forage on a weight basis. Use 10–12 lbs of Leading Edge per day as a starting guideline.
Horses competing in less strenuous activities should be fed as much forage as possible while adjusting the amount of Leading Edge fed per day to maintain the desired body condition and energy level. Use 5–8 lbs of Leading Edge per day as a starting guideline.
Caution: This product contains supplemental selenium. Do not feed this product at levels greater than recommended or in combination with other products containing supplemental selenium if the selenium concentration of the complete diet will exceed 0.30 ppm.
Reminder: Feed is perishable. Store this product in a cool, dry area away from rodents and insects.
Warning: DO NOT offer any feed that is spoiled, moldy, rodent or insect infested, or abnormal in appearance or odor, as it may cause illness or death. This product contains supplemental copper. DO NOT feed to sheep or other copper-sensitive species.
