CALF CARE RECOMMENDATIONS
1) Feed 2 to 4 quarts of colostrum twice daily for the first three days. Ensure that one colostrum feeding of 2 to 4 quarts occurs within two hours of birth. Use Manna Pro® Colostro-Fix™ if maternal colostrum is not available.
2) Begin feeding milk replacer on day four.
3) Begin feeding Calf-Manna® free-choice in the first week.
4) Begin feeding calf starter/grower after Calf-Manna® intake reaches 1 pound per calf per day.
5) Calves can be weaned from milk replacer successfully when intake of calf starter/grower reaches 2 pounds daily.
6) Continue increasing the amount of grain fed up to 6 pounds per head per day for the first six months and provide free choice access to hay or pasture.
7) Provide fresh, clean water at all times.
8) Use Manna Pro® Scour-Ease® Medicated Calf Milk Replacer and Bounce Back® Electrolyte Supplement for scouring calves. Consult a veterinarian if scours persist.
9) Manna Pro® Jump Start Plus oral gel can be given when the calf is off feed or stressed due to disease, hauling, or weather changes.
10) Ask your veterinarian for a comprehensive vaccination and health program.
